Benjamin Escotto [EH]
From: Kevin Clutter[KClutter@iwpusa.com]
Sent: Tuesday, September 25, 2012 5:19 PM
To: Michael Pires
Cc: Benjamin Escotto [EH]
Subject: RE: Tracy Yard
Michael - we will need to see the inspection report in order to address this in full - we
don't formally respond to verbal conversations or draft memos/reports from agencies. In
short, it is understood that fly traps and rodent bait need to be implemented and
maintained. However, I don't understand the comment about eyewash. What haz
mats/corrosives are on site that the county has concern about? It is my understanding that
no such materials or exposures exist on site that would trigger such a requirement.
Regarding site security - this building is in the middle of the site that is completely
fenced, gated and monitored by on-site security. So what is the concern? It is my
understanding that there have been no issues with other building access concerns like
animals dragging materials out and about - so other than rodent and fly types of concerns,
what is the issue or concern? Depending upon what the real concern or issue is, it may or
may not be within our lease authorization to address a building-related issue.
Kevin
From: Michael Pires
Sent: Tuesday, September 25, 2012 4:48 PM
To: Kevin Clutter
Subject: FW: Tracy Yard
From: Benjamin Escotto [EH] [mailto:bescotto@sjcehd.com]
Sent: Tuesday, September 25, 2012 4 :37 PM
To: Michael Pires
Subject: RE: Tracy Yard
Hello Michael,
I believe I was referring to the inspection report. I talked with Mike Harger about
the things that needed to be done. Most of the things are on site record keeping (the
inspection report will be specific as to what are the required records) . As far as the
facility, you will need to implement fly traps, rodent bait, and a designated water source
for eye wash (it will be stated in the inspection report) . The last thing, as I believe
Mike Harger spoke to you about, is site security. The building itself has several open
access points that are not closed off during non-operation. My supervisor, Robert
McClellon, and I are asking for some possible solutions you can offer to correct this
issue. Robert is off until next week Thursday (10/4/12) and he will need to review and
approve my inspection report before I can send it out. In the meantime, I would like to
discuss the possible solutions you can provide for the site security issue.
Please feel free to contact me either by phone or email. I will be out doing
inspections most of the day tomorrow, but will be in the office in the morning on Thursday
if you want to talk on the phone.
Ben Escotto, Senior REHS
San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department
1868 E.
