1
California Waste Removal Systems, Inc.
and other green refuse is stored on an adjoining lot just north of
the permitted station boundary and composting area. I observed that
all salvaged materials were stored in a manner minimizing vector
harborage, fires, and nuisances.
17521 Removal
Mr . Sanchez told me that all salvaged materials are removed
frequently and are not stockpiled on-site for favorable market
conditions. I observed that the storage time of recovered materials
is of short duration and does not result in health or fire problems.
17522 Non-Salvageable Items
No salvaging of non-salvageable items (drugs, foods, beverages,
hazardous wastes, etc. ) was observed.
17531 Nuisance Control
I did not observe a condition that was causing a public nuisance.
17532 Dust Control
The inside of the transfer station and all access roads are paved.
I did not observe dust creating a nuisance.
(Note: The property adjoining the station to the north (proposed for,
a five acre expansion in the permit revision) , which is used for
stockpiling green waste for composting, is unpaved and showed deep
ruts in the mud. This area appears to have the potential to generate
dust . )
17534 Drainage Control
The paved areas of this facility are graded to allow surface runoff
to reach drains. Mr . Sanchez informed me that this drainage is
channeled to a clarifier which is connected to the city sewer system.
I observed that all drains were clear of debris and operational .
17535 Litter Control
I did not observe any accumulations of litter, on or off-site, that
would create a public nuisance. Mr . Sanchez told me that the new
covered area for stockpiling paper and cardboard had helped in this
matter .
17536 Noise Control
Operating noise could be heard at the site perimeter but is unlikely
to create a health hazard to persons using the station or residents
of a mobile home park one-half mile to the west .
17538 Traff O t CconE%Q
No traffic control problems were observed during the inspection.
1L I
ES
r
Waste Management Specialist
