Site communication can involve the use of <br /> phones , radios , hand signals , voice commands , and signage . <br /> DECONTAMINATION PROCEDURES <br /> The company has instituted decontamination procedures . These procedures <br /> have been included in this HASP to communicate to the employees the standard <br /> operating procedures for decontamination and to minimize employee contact with <br /> hazardous substances or with equipment that has contacted hazardous <br /> substances . Decontamination procedures shall be addressed to whenever an <br /> employee or a piece of equipment comes in contact with hazardous substances . <br /> • Decontamination shall be performed in geographical areas that will minimize <br /> the exposure of uncontaminated employees or equipment to contaminated <br /> employees or equipment . This area , known as the Decon Zone will be noted <br /> on the site map . <br /> • All employees leaving a contaminated area shall be appropriately <br /> decontaminated ; all contaminated clothing and equipment leaving a <br /> contaminated area shall be appropriately disposed of or decontaminated . <br /> • Decontamination procedures shall be monitored by site safety and health <br /> supervisor to determine their effectiveness and shall be corrected if the <br /> procedures are found to be ineffective . <br /> • Equipment and media used for decontamination shall be either <br /> decontaminated or disposed of properly . <br /> • Wet Decontamination - Instruments will be washed using any approved liquid , <br /> including water and solvents . Water decontamination shall be used in <br /> preference over solvents . All liquids used for decontamination will be collected <br /> in approved waste container and labeled . <br /> • Dry Decontamination - Dry decontamination absorbent material shall be used <br /> as the decontamination media . Acceptable dry media include towels , rags , <br /> and diatomaceous earth . All media used for decontamination will be collected <br /> in an approved waste container and labeled . <br />
