i <br /> 5 . 0 SITE CONTROL MEASURES <br /> All work at this site will be performed in accordance with the company' s Site Control <br /> Program . This Site Control Program has been established to help organization on <br /> the site , promote safe work practices , and control safety and health hazards on the <br /> site . It involves : <br /> • Site- specific map ; <br /> • Establishment of site work zones ; <br /> • Site communication system ; <br /> • Buddy system ; <br /> • Standard operating procedures ; and <br /> • Identification of the nearest medical assistance . <br /> Site - Specific Map and Work Zones <br /> The site control map is included in the site -specific information . The site map shall <br /> include the site layout and the following : <br /> • Streets and structures . <br /> • Identification of all pertinent underground information including utilities and <br /> contaminated areas . <br /> • A Hot Zone showing the area where work involving hazardous substances will be <br /> used or encountered and areas to stockpile contaminated soil . No unauthorized <br /> people will be allowed in the hot zone . Access to the hot zone shall be limited by <br /> the means of a chain - link fence encompassing the site ' s boundaries . <br /> • A Decon Zone where decontamination of personnel , tools , and equipment will be <br /> performed . <br /> • A Support Zone for additional site activities not involved in removal or contact <br /> with hazardous substances . <br /> • Evacuation routes and meeting places . <br /> • A separate map will be included showing the route and location to the nearest <br /> emergency facilities . <br /> Buddy System <br /> Employees shall work using the buddy system . Employees are responsible for <br /> keeping an eye on their " buddy " especially when their work entails contact or possible <br /> contact with safety and health hazards . Buddy assignments will be made during the <br /> pre-job safety meeting . During an emergency each employee is responsible for <br /> accounting for the location of their " buddy . ' <br /> Site Communication <br /> A system for communication on site will be established prior to the commencement of <br /> site activities . Site communication will begin during the pre -job safety meeting that <br /> will include , among other things , a discussion of the safety and health hazards on <br /> site , precautionary measures necessary to limit the risk posed by these hazards , and <br />
