Soil Suitability and Nitrate Loading Evaluation CTE Job # 25-0726G
Custom Home
5388 Fig Road
Manteca, California
Mav 18, 2020 Paee 4 of 9
The test holes and boring for this study were drilled using a 4 -inch diameter hand auger. The
maximum explored depth was 3.0± feet below existing ground surface (begs). Soils were logged
in the field by a CTE Field Geologist and were classified according to the Unified Soil
Classification System (ASTM D2487) based on field testing, and visual observations.
6.0 GROUNDWATER
No free groundwater was encountered within the percolation test holes performed for our
evaluation. Based on information contained on the California Groundwater Information Center
Map site (https://,,is.water.ca.,,,ov/app/--icinaa/), ground water flows toward the southwest and
groundwater levels shown to be between 9 and 18 feet begs in the fall and spring seasons. The
high 9 -foot groundwater level is consistent with historic high (1983 and 1999) groundwater levels
shown in the "San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department Onsite Wastewater
Treatment Systems Local Agency Management Program" publication.
7.0 SOIL PROFILE
Published (USDA, Soil Survey of San Joaquin County, California, dated October 1992) mapping
indicates soils at the site consists of "Tinnin" described as coarse textured soils that are very deep.
The septic tank absorption field rating for Tinnin soils is indicated to be "severe: poor filter" due to
high permeability. Based on published geologic mapping —"Geologic Map of the San Francisco -
San Jose Quadrangle" (CDMG Map Sheet 5A, 1991) the site is indicated to be underlain by the
Quaternary Dune Sand deposits. Such deposits are considered to be consistent with the USDA
"Tinnin" soil series and Hydrologic Class "A''—having high infiltration rates.
The percolation test hole (P-1) encountered soil profiles consisting of silty fine sand (SM) to the
maximum explored depth of 36 inches below existing ground surface (begs). Soils encountered in
the borings are considered consistent with published mapping described above. The soil material
type presented on the percolation test data sheet represents the soil material type present at the
depth in which the percolation testing was conducted. Percolation data sheets are contained in
VCALS14C
