Page 4 FE 382-063- 00
Information received from individuals in the community of
Lodi revealed that the site had been used to dispose of foundry
wastes , household garbage, construction wastes , etc. Most of the
site history was based on personal interviews with very little
documented information. All,
FIELD AND LABORATORY INVESTIGATION PROGRAM
Eleven (11 ) borings were advanced to depths ranging from 20
to 45 feet at various locations within the site boundary. Both a
Modified Penetration Sampler ( 2- 3/811 diameter ) and a Standard
Penetration Sampler were used during our investigation .
Relatively undisturbed samples of the soils were taken for visual
examination , classification and laboratory testing . All borings
were drilled with 6 inch diameter flight auger- type drilling
equipment. In addition, 7 backhoe pits were excavated to explore
the subsurface conditions . These pits were advanced to a depth
of approximately 18 feet.
Selected samples from the borings were tested in our
laboratory to determine the settlement and strength
characteristics . In addition , selected samples from the test
pits were analyzed to determine organic content . A plot plan
showing soil borings and test pit locations are presented in this
report. Logs of borings as well as results of laboratory tests
are presented in Appendix A.
The Foundation Enoeers, Inc.
