Structural loads should be light to moderate .
Reportedly, the building pads , approximately 60 feet by 60 feet ,
will be placed in the central portion of the lots .
The composition and consistency of the subsurface materials
are of overriding concern in this project. As indicated by our
investigation and substantiated by the history of the site , the
near- surface materials consisting of miscellaneous debris
intermixed with soil were placed in a random , indiscriminate
manner . Therefore , interpolation or extrapolation of the
subsurface conditions , as revealed by our borings and test pits ,
across the site are highly speculative and are not recommended.
The potential for encountering isolated voids and areas of
organic matter exists at this site.
Below the near- surface material , the principal soils
found at this site are non-cohesive sandy silts and silty sands ;
thus , the action of foundations can be analyzed on the basis of
the characteristics of granular soils . This type of soil
generally has relatively high shearing values ; therefore , the
bearing values for foundations placed on granular soils are
usually based upon the allowable settlements of the proposed
structures . The amount of soil settlement is directly related to
the soil' s relative density and the size and type of loading of
the soil .
1
The Foundation Engineers, Inc.
