Page 10 FE 382- 063- 00
Several foundation systems were considered for this site,
raft foundations , shallow foundations with slab- on- grade , and
deep foundations with pier and grade beam construction. The raft
foundation system was not considered economically feasible due to
the cost of necessary combating measures against the excessive r
potential settlements that exist at this site. However , both the
shallow foundation with slab-on-grade and deep foundation with
pier and grade beam construction were considered feasible subject
to the recommendations contained in this report .
Unanticipatedsoil conditions are commonly encountered and
cannot be fully determined by mere soil samples or test borings .
Such unexpected conditions frequently require that additional
expenditures be made to attain a properly construction project.
Therefore, some contingency fund is recommended to accomodate
such potential extra costs in light of the complex nature of the
subsurface conditions at this site.
CONCLUSIONS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
General : Based on results of our test borings , test pits ,
and laboratory tests conducted for this investigation , we
conclude that the central and southern portion of the site which
includes the southern portion of lot 1 , lots 2 , 3 , 4 , A and B
could be developed for the proposed residential construction,
if the recommendations contained in this report are adhered to .
The Foundation Engineers, Inc.
