• 0
Nearest recollection of municipal pond cleaning is in the neighborhood of twelve to
fifteen years. Accumulation of municipal sludge is a slow process at the Escaion WWTF
which allows time for the digestion process (breakdown) of the biosolids in the lower
(bottom) anaerobic portion of the facultative pond. Draining of two of the five ponds
revealed little to no odor associated with undigested biosolids.
Both industrial sludge and municipal biosolids are spread in pond#22 and periodically
disked to accelerate and complete the drying process. Presently, there is no plan to move
the municipal biosolids.
During the October 2nd, 2008 inspection conducted by your department, approximately
three cubic yards of treated wood waste (7001bs) was uncovered. This waste was
manifested and disposed of at the Fink Rd. Land Fill located at 4000 Fink Rd., Crows
Landing, CA 95313 on January 28, 2009. Please see attached manifest to document such
disposal.
Please contact myself at(209) 838-4139 or John Abrew the City Engineer at (209) 838-
4114 if you have any questions.
Sincerely,
Date "
Patrick Riggs
Public Works Director
City of Escalor,
Cc: Greg Greeson, City Manager
John Abrew, City Engineer
attachment
