6.4 Respiratory Protection <br /> This investigation will not require respiratory protection unless a hazard is detected. In <br /> which case, a trained Hazwoper crew would be deployed to commence identification <br /> and cleanup efforts. This Hazwoper is primarily concerned with preliminary <br /> investigation purposes with a certified Hazwoper team member to oversee the <br /> investigation process. <br /> 6.5 Hearing Conservation <br /> PPE for hearing protection will be utilized; however, expected decibel levels are not <br /> expected to exceed 85 dB. <br /> 6.6 PPE Maintenance & Storage <br /> New hearing protection devices will be issued new each day the site investigation <br /> duration. There will be no storage requirements. Excavations are expected to proceed <br /> for only one (1) day. <br /> Defective or damaged equipment is not used and is reported to Patrick Riggs. <br /> so that the equipment can be repaired or discarded. Spent and disposable PPE is <br /> discarded in the manner specified in Chapter 10, Decontamination. After <br /> decontamination, reusable PPE is properly stored in the event such equipment is <br /> needed, according to the manufacturers' recommendations and the site <br /> decontamination plan mentioned above and in HASP Chapter 12, Standard Operating <br /> Procedures. <br /> 6.7 Evaluation of PPE Program <br /> Assessment of PPE performance occurs throughout site activities in response to air <br /> monitoring data collected (Chapter 7, Exposure Monitoring) and the action levels <br /> identified in Table 6-2b. Surface samples are collected from the inside surfaces of <br /> used PPE to ensure that the equipment provides an adequate barrier throughout the <br /> work shift. Surface monitoring procedures are described in Chapter 7. <br /> Modifications to initially selected PPE are determined by Cassidy Bohannon and <br /> affected employees are informed immediately. Chapter 2 of the HASP, Job Hazard <br /> Analysis, is with updated information about job hazards and selected controls. <br /> Chapter 6 -4 <br />
