The climatic conditions for the site area can be summarized as - Warm or Hot and Dry during the summer with rainfall averaging about 15 inches during the winter. The operation is usually carried out during the summer months and no adverse climatic factors have been encountered. Since operations were planned for the dry period, the access roads from the State Highway have been paved with asphaltic concrete so that no dust problem will occur-. On the few occasions that dust in the actual disposal area has been a problem, a water wagon has been rented and used to water down the work site. The quantities of waste received have decreased greatly from the first years of operation of the LOF plant when nearly 15,000 cubic yards was disposed of initially. At the present time, the volume.of waste is around 4 to 5000 cubic yards per year. The rate of hauling to the site is controlled by the number of trucks used (5 or 6) and presents no problems of disposal or placement at the disposal -site. The daily haul to the site will run from 240 to about 300 cubic yards of material over the 15 to 20 working days involved. The disposal site has a capacity of about 20,000 cubic yards remaning. This gives a life expectancy of 4 or 5 -years based on the recent experience. If LOF continues to improve its operations so that the decrease of waste cullet continues the site may last for 8 or 10 years. A portion of the most recent USGS Map of the area is enclosed and on it are shown the access roads and the structures that exist in the•surrounding areas. Access to the site is from mossdale.Road, the Easterly frontage roacl.of I-5, over a paved entrance road which goes under the Western Padi.fic.Railway in an underpass constructed for this disposal site and: -continues along the base of*the levee on the westerly bank of the San',"Joaquin River to the, site. Traffic to the site is'.completely under:, the c6ntirol of the operator of the site and the LOF personnel. As stated above, 5 or 6 trucks are used and, in one deys time, from50 to 60 loads a day are brought to the site. The trucks used in the hauling have been of two types. The initial hauling was done with semi -trailer dump trucks with a capacity of 10 to.12 cubic yards. In the recent years, 10 wheel dump trucks with a capacity of 6 to 6 cubic yards have been used. The enclosed maps show the structures in the surrounding area. There are no -buildings at the 'site.
