An exclusion zone will be <br />established around the excavation area. No unauthorized person shall be allowed within this <br />exclusion area. The open excavation area will be surrounded by temporary fencing. No AGE or <br />subcontractor personnel will be allowed into any excavation greater than five feet bsg until proper <br />excavation shoring and/or sloping techniques have been emplaced. <br />4.0. HAZARD EVALUATION <br />The following substance(s) or hazards are known or suspected to be on site. <br />SUBSTANCES INVOLVED: CONCENTRATIONS: <br />Unknown Unknown <br />The primary hazards of each are identified as follows: <br />1. Hydrocarbon fuels - Components of fuels are colorless liquids with strong aromatic <br />petroleum hydrocarbon -like odors. They are flammable and have low solubility in water. <br />Exposure to these materials in excess of recommended exposure limits can cause mild eye, <br />nose, and throat irritation and can produce a narcotic effect on the central nervous system. <br />Symptoms of exposure at these concentrations include headache, nausea, drowsiness, <br />dizziness, and loss of coordination. Certain components of gasoline (BTEX etc.) are known <br />or suspected carcinogens. <br />The additional potential hazards include: Slip -trip -fall hazards, noise, hem equipment i.e., <br />excavator/backhoe) vibration hazards, traffic hazards,lg ass (i.e., dust /shards), etc. <br />5.0.
