(juLk.ITA
U T Y
Hazardous Waste Program
Process, Containers, Labels & Spills
Overview Rev 10/20
Many Ulta Beauty product SKUs are classified as hazardous waste if damaged, spilled, or expired.
Federal and state regulations require proper categorization, storage, management, and disposal of
hazardous waste. The Hazardous Waste Program is designed to protect the environment, comply with
applicable regulatory requirements, minimize the risk of fines, and support the Ulta Beauty core value,
Do What's Right.
As part of the damage process, the MIA device is used to determine whether the product is hazardous
and will provide the hazardous waste classification (e.g., Flammable Liquid, Flammable Gas) if
applicable. Based on the classification, the product must be stored in the appropriate hazardous waste
container until it is picked up by a hazardous waste transporter. Certain states have additional
classification and processes outlined in this document.
Why It's Important
Ulta Beauty stores may be periodically inspected by local, state, or federal regulatory agencies. It is
critical that the process outlined in this document is adhered to in order to comply with hazardous
waste regulations. Failure to comply with the program could potentially subject Ulta Beauty to
substantial fines and penalties as well as unnecessary operational costs.
Topic Index
. .
