MORRIS
SHAFFER
E N G I N E E R I N G
August 10, 2n2, Rev August 31, 2021
Tony Grizelj
Metal Finishing Solutions, Inc.
1325 El Pinal Drive
Stockton, CA 95205
Tank System Integrity Report
Morris Shaffer Engineering Project # 20238 [Previous 18211]
On October 14, 2020 and January 4, 2021 an engineer from our office visited Metal Finishing Solutions in
Stockton to conduct a system integrity assessment of the following tanks, associated piping, and secondary
containment of the Waste Treating Area containing hazardous waste:
Tank # I Description
WT -T1
Acid Waste
Cylindrical
CAR 000285262
WT -T2
Alkaline Waste
Cylindrical
CAR 000285262
C1X-T1
System Feed Tank
Cylindrical
CAR 000285262
C1X-T2
DI Holding Tank
Cylindrical
CAR 000285262
FN -T1
Neutralization Stage 1
Cylindrical
CAR 000285262
FN -T2
Neutralization Stage 2
Cylindrical
CAR 000285262
Based on these inspections and our evaluation, we are providing this written certification for the above
mentioned tanks following the guidelines of Title 22 California Code of Regulations, Chapter 15, Article 10,
Section 66265.192.
Seismic Anchorage: The firm that installed the original seismic anchorage components at the time of tank
installation has provided seismic anchorage calculations to justify the original anchorage components. Please
see Appendix A for seismic anchorage calculations by P.E.S. Engineering Consultants, dated March 25, 2021. No
changes to the original anchorage is required.
Secondary Containment: For the curb and tanks shown on the attached partial site plan, an 18" tall curb is
adequate secondary containment. Please see Appendix B for secondary containment calculations.
Corrosion Protection: All (6) tanks included herein are fabricated from polyethylene, the system's piping
appears to be PVC, and the secondary containment for all tanks is a concrete slab on grade and concrete berm
with a suitable waterproofing material. All of these are corrosion resistant. The pumps do not appear to be
leaking at this time and should be monitored. Although it is helpful to visually inspect the interior of the tanks,
in this case we have observed these tanks in 2018 and again in 2020 & 2021. Please note all (6) tanks were
installed as new in 2018. Given these new tanks have been in service for three years now and we have observed
them on three separate occasions, we certify these tanks to be of adequate condition after only 10% of their 30+
year serviceable life.
1300 INDUSTRIAL ROAD, SUITE 14, SAN CARLOS, CA 94070, (650) 595-2973 FAX (650) 595-2980
