AST foundation(describe),concrete sub-floor, Base of AST under UL 142 adeuuate to withstand the load
of a full tank-Tank is/is NOW anchored to floor.
8. AST anchoring(seismic zone/floatation risk)AST is/is NOW anchored,with steel flansLesthru feet of tank
which are welded to outer shell of tank,&%: in. anchor bolts into the concrete floor. (city, state) Stockton,CA
is a(groundshaking) medium to high fault seismic region, likely to experience some moderate to severe
earthquake activity, but with a lower level of frequency and intensity than areas which are adjacent to major
active faults, which lie directly West of this area. Per CA Dept. ofConaervaliun-CA Geological Survey, this area
is a moderate to high ground shaking intensity zone with a low hazard of flooding, and is in a non-saturated zone
which nre(rJis a 10w tO moderate ligerefactian hyAard. These anclturs are intended to secure the tank du_!in u_
seismic event. There are two scenarios which would create loads upon them. The first scenario is an emptytank.
With an empty tank, the ex ap nsion anchors resist the overturning moment through their tensile (pull-out)
ca acit . Since the anchors are installed at the perimeter o the tank the distance between anchors in either
directim0provides a sufficient lever arm for the concrete anchors to not exceed their allowable pull-reel capacity.
The second load case is with a partially full or full tank_. lir this scenario, because the liquiel fills the bollam ofthe
tank and increases its weight, the governinx load care becomes the shear capacity of'llse, concrete expansion
anchors In the shear loading, all anchors resist the loads and their allowable capacity is not exceeded. This load
