case is conservative in its analysis since it neglects the friction force created by the weight of the partially Full
or full tank. This tank's rear&side is against the concrete support structure at the walls and with other steel
lubricants tanks, which further acts as a barrier to movement in the event of an earthquake. The tan,ks_a_re
unlikely to move outside the berm in a seismic event-or a flooding event.
9. AST will withstand frost-heave XXYes No AST is located in secured lubricants room not subject to
weather conditions
10. AST previously relocated? Yes XX No
11. AST Corrosion Protection Tank is covered in paint.with no evidence of external corrosion. Tank has
no specific corrosion rotection beyond the paint. No part of the AST touches the ground. The base of the
AST is steel, raised3 inches from the concrete pad. There is no evidence of internal corrosion taking place.
Tank's construction material is carbon steel. As this tank is not in any contact with the ground, there is no
need for further corrosion protection such as cathodic corrosion protection_
12. AST Spill Prevention Equipment(describe) None-Recommend install Kreuger gauge, not required_ _Filling is
a remote operation & product is not handled outside of the intended containers. Tank has integral secondary
containment. Pump has a check valve to prevent siphoning from tank back thru pick up hoses. 'rank has
continuous electronic monitoring with a BJ Inter rises SentEy siren alarm which actuates at 90%capacity.
Filling at the tank has the hydraulic hose connection set within a 7 gal, containment-box to contain spills.
Upon inspection, there was a small amount of 12roduct in the containment box which should be monitored so
that it does not present a problem. The system has a pneumatic auto shut down device which is an FMM
Services high level shut clown. System has manual ball valve shut down at the pump. Spill Prevention
Sensor was removed and inspected and operated. The sensor float was measured and it was determined that
the tank strobe alarm actuates at 90% of tank capacity and the auto shut down device actuates at 95% of
capacity at which time it shuts down pumping operations of the pump itself.
13. Overfill Protection: (describe]—in-line ball-valve shutoff installed. All filling is remote via the pneumatic
pumps Tank has continuous electronic monitoring with a BJ Enterprises_ SENTRY siren alarm which
actuates a siren at 103dB when product levels reach 90% and an FMM Services pneumatic auto shut down
with "whistling alarm" when product levels reach 95% capacity. Alarm systems were tested & found to be
in gqod working condition. At the time of inslRection, it was indicated that there was a roximatel 200 gals.
of product in the primary tank. Auto shut downs were cycled and are in good operating condition. The air
supply to the Graco Husky 1030 pump has a ball valve shut down for manual shut down. The ball-valve
device was in the proper"open" position at the time of the inspection and were found to have free movement
of operation when tested.
14a: Toxic Considerations: Used mineral-based crankcase oil is the brown-to-black oily li uid removed from
the enuinc of a motor vehicle when the oil is changed. It is similar to unused oil except it contains additional
chemicals from its use as an engine tubricant. The chemicals in oil include hydrocarbons, which are distilled
from crude oil, and various additives that improve the oil's performance. Used oil also contains chemicals
formed when the oil is exposed to high temperatures and pressures inside an engine. It also contains some
metals from engine parts and small amounts of gasoline, antifreeze, and chemicals that come from gasoline
when it burns inside the engine.
14b: Additional Hazardous Cons iderations:Waste Oil can be Ignitable & create fires under certain conditions,
are combustible, or have a flash point less than 60°C (140 °F), in addition to a slightly corrosive hazard.which
can corrode&break down metals over long periods of exposure. It is not normally a reactive nor does it
generate large amounts of vapors, which would be an additional fire hazard, however, this tank_ is fitted with
a 2 inch atmospheric vent on the secondary tank, and a 2 in. atmospheric vent on the primary tank. The
tank is fitted with a Morrison Brothers 4 inch emergency vent on the primary vessel. The tank also has a
Morrison Biros. 4 in. emergencyent on the secondary containment. Emergency Vents are required to be--
Properly sized as required under the listing thru Underwriter's Laboratories. .
