off from the processing plant and Honen's 7 through 10. This area is also
the woody block consisting of an earthen berm with trees and shrubs
planted within the interior to up -take the water. There is a large and a small
manure storage pond by the bunker. The small pond is where all the
liquefied manure from the Honen's 1-6 was stored. Once the liquefied
manure settled, the liquid was pumped into the large neighboring storage
pond. A thin layer of water was applied to the surface of the manure in the
pond to reduce flies and odors. Since the Honen's that utilized these ponds
are no longer in use, they will be emptied and filled in according to
Environmental Health requirements. The small manure storage pond is in
the process of having the solids removed and it will then be covered or filled
in with clean fill dirt as per San Joaquin County Environmental Health
Department. There is a small storage pond in what was historically utilized
as the drying field. This pond would capture any seepage and/or run-off
that may occur while drying out the manure. The dry field was utilized to
spread a thin layer of poultry manure on. This allowed the manure to dry
out rapidly reducing the moisture, odors, and flies. The field is level and
sloped slightly towards the catch pond. This field was only utilized to dry
out the manure, it was then recollected and disposed of.
RESIDENCES: There are 5 residences and/or employee houses on-site.
