The purpose of this Odor Impact Minimization Plan (OIMP) is to provide
guidance to on-site personnel at the SKS Poultry Facility in the handling, storage,
and removal of compostable materials. In accordance with the Title 14,
California Code of Regulations Section 17863.4. This GIMP will be maintained
on-site and revised as necessary to reflect any changes in the design or operation
of the Poultry Facility. A copy of the revisions will be provided to the
enforcement agency within 30 days of any changes. In addition, this OIMP will
be reviewed annually to determine if any revisions are necessary.
The SKS Poultry Facility will produce on-site all of the poultry manure used in
the compost. Fresh wood shavings are the only product that will be brought
onto the site for compost. At the present time they have the capability to process
10 tons of chicken manure per pit per day and there are 2 pits. SKS is planning
on installing another composting unit with 2 more pits. This will give them the
capacity to process approximately 40 tons of poultry manure per day. Any
excess poultry manure produced on-site that cannot be utilized in the compost
will be sold and/or given away. Daily the poultry manure generated on-site will
be processed into compost. After cleaning the poultry houses in the morning, the
manure will be transported to the compost facility for immediate mixing of
manure and wood shavings. It takes 28 days for the fresh poultry manure and
wood chips to mature into a completed compostable material. The compost will
then be sold bulk to agriculture enterprise and should be removed from the site
quite rapidly after the product is completed and laboratory analysis is
completed.
Fa
