PERMANENT FENCING: There is permanent perimeter fence of barb wire and
hog fencing around the entire property. There are also various cross fences
to provide pastures for the feeder steers.
STOCK PONDS: There are 2 stock ponds or fresh water ponds on-site. These
are utilized by the cattle for drinking water.
SEASONAL CREEK AND WETLANDS: There has not been a formal wetland
delineation conducted at the site, however there are intermittent creeks and
seasonal wetlands at the site.
OTHER SOURCES OF POSSIBLE ODORS PRODUCED ON-SITE OTHER THAN MANURE:
EGGS: The waste eggs (cracked, chipped, blood spots, etc.) from the packing
shed are dumped into 5 5 gallon barrels. The surface area of the barrel is
completely covered with corn meal and picked up by California Spray Dry
Company for pet food.
TRASH: All garbage generated within the facility is put in an 8'X 16'X 6'
trailer and hauled to North County Landfill, Harney Lane by S.K.S. employees
approximately 2 times a week.
BIRD MORTALITY: S.K.S. has about a 5% mortality rate. They are
located by the residences, the processing plant, and any Honen that has a
bathroom associated with it. These systems are for human waste only.
They are underground and pumped out as needed by a commercial septic
company.
CLIMATE CONDITIONS
CLIMATE
San Joaquin County is characterized by hot dry summers and cool moist
winters.
