Poultry Houses: There are several different types of poultry houses existing on-site for the
layers and brooders (Figure 4). Each type of house is designed to function differently and
will be described below. At the present time the facility operates year round with
approximately 521,000 birds.
Houses 1-5 are approximately 40 years old. All houses 1 —5 are empty/not in production
at this time.
Compost Facility: This is a 60,000 square foot enclosed building with a concrete foundation
and floor. This building houses to compost machine and 4 rows/pits of compost.
Approximately 36 cubic yards of manure and wood shavings or carbon are dumped into
the east side of this facility daily. It will take approximately 28 to 30 days to complete a
load of compost. Approximately 25 cubic yards of compost will be completed per pit per
day. The composting house will have the capability to process 21 cubic yards of chicken
manure per pit per day and there are currently 4 pits. Everyday the machine moves the
compost 7 feet. Completed compost will be held on a concrete slab until the laboratory
analysis is run and it is sold. Currently S.K.S. is selling the completed compost to "All
Safe Industrial P. O. Box 876,Victor, Ca 95253" as it is finished and in the future plan to
bag the compost to sale.
Waste Storage Ponds: There are several storage ponds on-site. There are small storage
ponds between each of the house for collection of rain runoff. There is a storage pond
west of the processing plant for wash water and rain runoff from the processing plant.
Since the Houses that utilized this pond are no longer in use, it is not needed.
Residences: There are residences and/or employee houses on-site. They provide fresh
water to the residences, poultry houses, and processing plant. The wells are within the
poultry operation and pipelines transport water around the operation and to the various
residences.
Dirt Roads: The dirt roads have a speed limit of 10 miles per hour to reduce dust during
the summer months.
Permanent Fencing: There is permanent perimeter fence of barb wire and hog fencing
around the entire property. There are also various cross fences to provide pastures for the
feeder steers.
4
