Stock Ponds: There are 2 stock ponds or fresh water ponds on-site. These are utilized by <br /> the cattle for drinking water. <br /> Seasonal Creek and Wetlands: There has not been a formal wetland delineation conducted <br /> at the site; however there are intermittent creeks and seasonal wetlands at the site. <br /> Other Sources of Possible Odors Produced On-Site Other Than Manure: <br /> Eggs: The waste eggs (cracked,chipped, blood spots, etc.) from the packing plant are <br /> dumped into 55 gallon barrels. The surface area of the barrel is completely covered with <br /> corn meal and picked up by California Spray Dry Company for pet food. <br /> Trash:All garbage generated within the facility is put in an 8'X 16"X 6"trailer and <br /> hauled to North County Landfill,Harney Lane by S.K.S. employees approximately 2 times <br /> a week. <br /> Bird Mortality: S.K.S. has about a 5% mortality rate. The birds are incinerated. If <br /> large amounts of birds need to be disposed of, S.K.S. has an agreement with North County <br /> Landfill, 17900 E. Harney Lane for disposal of the carcasses. <br /> Septic Systems: There are 14 domestic septic systems on-site. They are located by the <br /> residences,the processing plant, and any house that has a bathroom associated with it. <br /> These systems are for human waste only. They are underground and pumped out as <br /> needed by a commercial septic company. <br /> CLIMATE CONDITIONS <br /> Climate <br /> San Joaquin County is characterized by hot dry summers and cool moist winters. There <br /> is a high pressure area offshore that reduces the weather systems from entering this area <br /> during the summer months. In the winter months the high pressure shifts southward <br /> whereby allowing weather systems to enter this area producing moist cool weather and <br /> frequent heavy fogs. The average annual precipitation consists of approximately 17 <br /> inches per year,and usually occurs from the months of October through May. The cool <br /> moist Pacific winds enter the county through the Carquinez Straight gap. <br /> 5 <br />
