05 January 2018 AdvantedCieo
AGE Project No. 14-3154 F r)v i ro ri rn e n t a l
Page 8 of 9
Sidewall Soil Borings
A total of eight (8) soil borings will be advanced along the north and south sidewalls of
the waste cell excavations. Two soil borings will be advanced along the north and south
sidewalls of each waste cell to collect one sidewall soil sample from each location.
Sidewall soil borings will be advanced to total depths of eight (8) feet bsg in the North
Waste Cell and six (6) feet bsg in the South Waste Cell. One soil sample will be collected
at the termination of each sidewall boring and analyzed for dioxin/furans and the full list
of PCBs.
4.3. REPORT PREPARATION
Upon completion of field work and receipt of final laboratory analysis, an updated Site
Assessment Summary Report will be prepared presenting the findings of the
investigation. The report will include a description of the work performed and results of
the sampling and analysis. Conclusions, applicable recommendations, maps, cross-
sections of waste and an updated conceptual site model will be included in the report.
The report will be in a format acceptable to CVRWQCB and will be reviewed and signed
by a California Professional Geologist.
5.0. FIELD PROCEDURES
All field procedures will be overseen by an AGE representative under the supervision of
a California Professional Geologist. Procedures for the advancement of soil borings, soil
sampling, equipment decontamination and sample shipment are outlined below.
5.1. SOIL BORING ADVANCEMENT
Proposed soil borings will be advanced utilizing a van-mounted direct-push drilling rig
equipped with 1.5-inch diameter hollow-probing rods. The direct-push drilling rig
advances soil probe borings using a hydraulic hammer to drive soil sampling tools to
specified depths. A total of 17 soil borings will be advanced within the waste cells to
depths of 15 feet bsg (North Waste Cell) and 12 feet bsg (South Waste Cell); a minimum
of 7 soil borings will be advanced surrounding the former waste cells to depth of 15 feet
bsg; and a total of 8 soil borings will be advanced along the sidewalls of the former
excavation areas. Proposed boring locations are illustrated in Figure 3.
5.2. SOIL SAMPLING
Soil samples will be collected from the borings using a 1.5-inch or 2-inch diameter
Geoprobe soil sampling assembly loaded with a two-foot or four-foot acetate liner. Soil
samples will be collected continuously between 10 feet and 12 feet bsg in the South
