Page 2
Brvsca File No. 137-002 August 3, 2018
Murphy Parkway Property Soil Gas Monitoring Well Replacement Workplan
It is planned to completely overdrill the remaining portion of SGMWI using a drill rig with
approximate eight -inch -diameter hollow stem augers. Subsequently, a new soil gas monitoring
well will be installed in the borehole in the same general configuration as the original SGMWI.
Prior to the well abandonment work, the necessary permit will be obtained from the SJCEHD.
Additionally, Underground Service Alert will be contacted to clear the drilling location of
underground utilities, The abandonment work will be performed by a licensed C-57 drilling
contractor with oversight by a Professional Geologist from ink office.
Following the overdrilling of the damaged soil gas monitoring well SGMW 1, a replaement well
will be installed in the borehole to a depth of about ten feet. Two-inch diameter Schedule 40
PVC casing will be used for the replacement well. The lower seven feet of the casing will be
screened; the screened portion of the well will be factory slotted (0.020 inch slots). The upper
portion of the casing will be solid, and will extend to a level approximately three feet above the
ground surface. The annular space surrounding the screened portion of the well and extending
one foot above will be backfilled with washed graded silica sand. A one -foot -thick bentonite
plug will be placed and hydrated within the annular space directly above the sand filter, and the
remaining annular space above will be backfilled with neat cement grout to the ground surface.
A soil gas sampling port will be installed at the upper end of the replacement well and the
portion of the casing above the ground surface will be protected with a locking steel
riser/monument. A detail drawing shown the planned configuration of the replacement soil gas
monitoring well is presented as Plate 3.
Following the replacement of the soil gas monitoring well SGMW 1, we will prepare a summary
report which will include: descriptions of our procedures and observations; scaled site plan
drawings; a soil gas monitoring well log; and, the signature and stamp of the Professional
Geologist in charge of the project. The report will be submitted to the SJCEHD.
CLOSING
This Workplan will be submitted to the SJCEHD as a part fo the replacemnt well permitting
process.
