At the time of inspection significant corrosion was observed on the sides and underside of the
tank. In several areas pitting was observed to be forming as well. See the required and
recommended actions below in regard to the corrosion and pitting noted on the tank.
3.2. Piping and Ancillary Features
4.000 gallon —Regular Gasoline Compartment
Pump
The pump on the 4,000 gallon compartment was observed to be a 1.5 Horse Power submersible
pump manufactured by Red Jacket Pumps for use with Class 1 Group D locations that is
compatible and UL listed for use with gasoline. Consult your petroleum contractor prior to
placing an alternative fuels into the tank to ensure tank and system compatibility. According to
Red Jacket Pumps, the pump has a standard VR ready check valve.
Piping
The pipe going from the fill box to the tank is single walled 3" threaded pipe and has an inline
3" manual shut off valve and a 3" Morrison Brothers one-way Check Valve installed
downstream from the fill box on the product fill line. In addition, there is a 3" vapor return line
at ground level.
The 2" single walled threaded steel product line runs 125' from the top mounted red jacket
pump to the dock where the dispensers are mounted. The 2" piping enters into sealed and
monitored 4" Fiberglass secondary containment pipe just before the 2" pipeline runs below
surface through the berm. On the dock side of the berm the single walled product line exits the
4" fiberglass secondary containment pipe and converts to an approximately 10' long flexible
rubber hose submerged in the water to allow the dock to rise and drop with the water level.
The product line transitions back to 2" single walled threaded pipe and continues under the
dock to the dispensers.
Manual shut off valves were observed in the following locations along the pipeline from the
tank to the dispensers:
1. On top of the tank.
2. At the transition prior to entering into the 4" Fiberglass Secondary Containment.
3. At the transition exiting the 4" Fiberglass Secondary Containment when the product
line converts to a rubber hose.
4. At the transition on the end of the dock when the rubber hose transitions back to 2"
steel threaded pipe.
The 2" single walled threaded product pipeline was observed to have coating failure on the
underside of the piping going from the tank across the grass toward the building.
eFUEL, LLC 5
