III. ADDITIONAL EXCLUSION PROCEDURES <br />A. SIGNS <br />Signs are posted at the entrance of the landfill which <br />list the types of wastes which are prohibited. In addi- <br />tion to stating that hazardous wastes or liquids are not <br />accepted, examples are given in non-technical language. <br />Such examples include the common classifications listed in <br />Section I of this report. An example of the signs posted <br />at the entrance is given as Exhibit 3. <br />B. OBSERVATION BY SITE PERSONNEL <br />In addition to observations for prohibited wastes that are <br />conducted by the load check in the waste exclusion program, <br />site operating personnel are trained and directed to <br />notice and identify prohibited wastes which may be de- <br />livered to the site. These personnel include supervisors, <br />gate cashiers, and equipment operators. The equipment <br />operators play a particularly valuable role in observing <br />prohibited wastes which may be missed in the unloading <br />area by the load checker as the refuse is spread over the <br />working face. <br />Training for site personnel has included briefing on the <br />load checking program and will also include classroom <br />
