IV. PROCEDURES FOR HANDLING IDENTIFIED HAZARDOUS WASTE
If hazardous or other prohibited wastes are found after being
deposited at the site, landfill personnel will move the unloading
operations to a safe area and place traffic cones around the
affected area. If the prohibited wastes are safely containerized
for on-site moving , the site supervisor directs landfill workers
to move these materials to temporary storage.
Materials will be moved to an on-site temporary storage locker
for disposal within 90 days . A "Safety Storage, Incorporated,
Model 10 , " chemical storage locker has been installed at the site
for this purpose. This storage locker is provided with secondary
containment, explosion venting and may be moved with a forklift.
Specifications for this storage locker are contained in Exhibit
5 . Since the waste stored in the locker will be removed within
90 days, the locker is not required to be permitted as a hazar-
dous waste storage facility.
The City will has contract with a hazardous waste hauler to
collect hazardous waste and conduct haza_6ous waste cleanuo
activities at Co«al :,ollow Sanitary Landfill .
If the wastes are not adequately containerized for on-site moving
or storage , the San Joaquin Local Health District is contacted
immediately by telephone and given details of the incident.
