The DC Hazardous Waste Accumulation Area Weekly Inspection checklists dated 10/07/2019 and 10/14/2019 <br /> were marked "Yes"for item"12. Is the trash compactor locked (unless the assigned team member is processing <br /> trash)?"(see photo IMG 8994). However, the trash compactor was not locked and their was no one processing <br /> trash at the time of inspection. Also,when Rebecca Corona, Hazmat employee, dumped trash into the trash <br /> compactor,there was no area near the trash compactor for her to lay out the trash to properly process it,to ensure <br /> hazardous waste was not in the trash, prior to dumping the trash into the compactor. <br /> 2. The DC Hazardous Waste Accumulation Area Weekly Inspection checklists dated 10/07/2019 and 10/14/2019 <br /> were marked "Yes"for item"8. Is all hazardous waste properly bagged and sealed? (One item per bag or multiple <br /> items with identical SKUs)"(IMG 8994). However, at the time of inspection, a bag containing several different types <br /> of aerosol cans with different SKU numbers,was found inside an Aerosols, Flammables and Combustibles <br /> Hazardous Waste container in the hazardous waste storage area (IMG 8670-1). <br /> REGULATION GUIDANCE:The owner or operator shall inspect areas used for container storage or transfer,at <br /> least weekly, looking for leaking containers and for deterioration of containers and the containment system caused <br /> by corrosion or other factors. <br /> CORRECTIVE ACTION: Immediately, begin conducting proper hazardous waste weekly inspections.
