RadNet <br /> HAZARDOUS MATERIALS BUSINESS PLAN <br /> MRI Manual / Regulatory Affairs <br /> Original Effective Date: April 28, 2021 <br /> HAZARDOUS MATERIALS BUSINESS PLAN FOR CALIFORNIA MRI IMAGING CENTERS <br /> Policy <br /> This Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP) helps to prevent or minimize harm to employee <br /> and public health and the environment from a release of a hazardous material. It ensures <br /> emergency responders are aware of potential dangers in our workplace and also satisfies the <br /> federal Emergency Planning and Community Right-to-Know Act (EPCRA), which helps <br /> communities plan for chemical-related emergencies. <br /> Authority <br /> This Hazardous Materials Business Plan is required under the following statutes: <br /> • California Health and Safety Code, Division 20, Chapter 6.95, §25500-25519 <br /> • California Code of Regulations, Title 19, Division 2, Chapter 4 <br /> • California county codes specific to each RadNet county <br /> Procedure <br /> California imaging centers that have MRI equipment and store helium in the center must submit <br /> a Hazardous Materials Business Plan (HMBP) that includes the following elements: <br /> 1. Inventory of hazardous materials at the facility. <br /> Refer to Appendix A of this document. <br /> 2. Emergency response plans and procedures in the event of a reportable release or <br /> threatened release of a hazardous material. <br /> Refer to Appendix B of this document. <br /> 3. Training plan for employees that includes safety procedures in the event of a release of a <br /> hazardous material. <br /> Refer to Appendix C of this document. <br /> 4. A site map. <br /> Refer to Appendix D of this document for a sample site map that assists RadNet centers <br /> in creating their actual site map. <br /> California imaging center managers must submit this information electronically to the statewide <br /> information management system, California Environmental Reporting System / CERS. Login to <br /> https://cers.calepa.ca.gov/. Click •• �'�and to get started. <br /> Following the initial submittal, an annual hazardous materials inventory must be submitted by <br /> March 11 of each calendar year. Every three years, the center must attest that the plan has been <br /> reviewed and updated. <br /> Once a submittal has been made, and upon request, the California Certified Unified Program <br /> Agency (CUPA) will verify the information and transmit your information to the appropriate <br /> response agencies.
