After calling and discussing the release and clean-up with the complainant, Justin Piper, BNSF Haz Mat Manager(360-553-8672), Meelan Surrell, BNSF Office Coordinator (209-460-6024), John Brainard, BNSF Load and Ride Solutions Manager(209-460-6061), Jeremy Sirkin of Ponder Environmental Services, and Nathan Baker (707-410-9911), Ponder Environmental Services on-site foreman, who arrived on-site —4:40 pm, I confirmed the following information: 1 pint of diesel leaked from the refrigeration trailer fuel tank, impacting the outside of the fuel tank only and no impact to the ground where the trailer was found leaking on track 304 (railcar ID where trailer was found is unknown); according to Meelan, who states Drew McCurdy, a BNSF on-site supervisor stated he did not see a spill to the ground in the area where the release was found; Meelan could not transfer me to Drew, but said that he would tell him to call me back; the trailer was immediately moved to the lined leaker pit to be cleaned by Nathan Baker of Ponder. The waste to be generated is going to stay on-site, pending analytical. Requested Nathan to send me the type and amount of waste generated from the clean-up and a picture of the waste and waste label. Received photos of the spill clean-up from Nathan Baker. Nathan pumped the remainder of the diesel from the fuel tank into a 55 gallon drum. Nathan generated one 55 gallon drum of waste diesel and a 5-gallon container of diesel contaminated waste solids. FLORIDO 09/16/2020 Called Meelan Surrell to let her know that Drew McCurdy didn't contact me to FLORIDO verify that he observed the ground where the leaking trailer was found. Meelan transferred me to Drew. Spoke to Drew who confirmed the spill only impacted the sides of the fuel tank and did not impact the ground.
