• California Resources Production Corporation "Lathrop Unit A" 7, an idle,
dry, gas well, located approximately one-quarter mile southwest of the
Site.
• Participants Petro Corp. "Lathrop" 1, a plugged, dry gas well located
approximately one-eighth mile south of the Site.
Gas well development can generate brine and hazardous materials. The well on
the Site and those on the surrounding properties were drilled and abandoned
under the oversight of DOGGR. Environmental risks are present with any well
drilling or drilling fluid disposal. Idle wells are considered a particular problem
because they can provide a conduit for contaminants to migrate to drinking water
or the surface (Department of Conservation, 2020). However, no evidence was
encountered to indicate specific contamination affecting the Site as a result of
past gas well operations.
7.5 National Pipeline Mapping System Database
Live Oak reviewed the National Pipeline Mapping System (NPMS) Public Viewer
on April 10, 2020 for evidence of hazardous materials pipelines within one-
quarter mile of the Site. The NPMS does not depict any hazardous materials
pipelines within the search radius. Local pipelines which are not mapped by the
NPMS may be present in the area, however. Pipeline markers were observed
along the western property line.
8.0 IDENTIFIED CONTAMINATION SOURCES
The following sources of past, current, on-site, and off-site contamination have
been identified as a result of this investigation:
Identified Contamination Source Evaluation
1.
