Engineered Septic System Report Irerracon
Jeremy Winery Property Lodi, California
October 1, 2020 Terracon Project No. NA197008
Boring Depth Interval Soil Type Unified Soil
(feet) Classification
25.0 Silty sand, fine to medium SM
grained, brown, very dense
*table taken from the nitrate loading/soil suitability study dated May 7, 2020.
Stratification boundaries on the table represent the approximate location of changes in soil types;
in situ, the transition between materials may be gradual. The location for each of the borings can
be found in Appendix A of this report.
3.2 Percolation Test
The percolation tests were conducted in accordance with the requirements of the San Joaquin
County Percolation Test Procedure (Form: EHD 42-01-002 Revised 08-23-2011). On March 22,
2019 the shallow boring percolation tests B1 at 3.5 feet bgs and B2 at 3.5 feet bgs were
performed. The deep boring B3 at 25.0 feet bgs percolation test was conducted on April 5, 2019.
As water remained in the bottom of boring B1, Terracon conducted the percolation test by
following Procedure #1. Approximately 0.5 feet of clear water was added above the top of the
gravel and the drop in water level was recorded after a 30 minute period.
There was no water remaining in the test holes at borings B2 and B3; therefore, Terracon
conducted the percolation tests by following Procedure #2. Terracon added clear water
approximately 0.5 feet above the top of the gravel and recorded the drop in water level at thirty
minute intervals over a four hour period. Measurement of the water level during the percolation
test was from a fixed reference point on the PVC casing using a calibrated Solinst electric water
level detector with a depth accuracy of 0.01 feet. All tabulated values on the field data sheet are
in decimal feet. The percolation test for borings B2 and B3 were observed by Mr. Naseem Ahmed,
EHD representative.
The approximate location of the test hole is indicated on the attached Appendix A. Below is a
summary of the percolation test results corrected for a gravel packed hole.
Percolation Rate Summary
Location Depth, ft Percolation Rate (min/inch)
B1 3.5 250
B2 3.5 125
B3 25.0 125
Based on the percolation tests results, the two shallow borings at 3.5 feet bgs failed to achieve a
passing percolation rate of 60 minutes per inch or less for standard leachfields. Additionally, the
deep boring percolation test at 25 feet bgs failed to have a passing percolation rate of at least 30
Responsive ■ Resourceful ■ Reliable 3
