LLNL Emergency Management Plan(EPlan) <br /> Rev 26 <br /> January 2021 <br /> • Two interstate highways travel up the East Bay from San Jose. They are Interstate 880, <br /> which runs close to the bay to Oakland, and Interstate 680, which stretches inland from <br /> San Jose north through Fremont, Pleasanton, and Concord. <br /> Railways <br /> Union Pacific Railroad operates freight lines through the Altamont Pass, Livermore, Pleasanton, <br /> and Niles Canyon. The Altamont Commuter Express also runs on Union Pacific lines between <br /> Stockton and San Jose, including a stop on Vasco Road near Site 200. <br /> 1.4.2.7 Utility Systems <br /> Electrical Utilities <br /> Site 200 is served by both Pacific Gas & Electric (PG&E) and the Western Area Power <br /> Administration. <br /> Site 300 is served by PG&E. <br /> LLNL has adequate normal and backup generator capacity and sufficient uninterruptible power <br /> supply systems or battery sources to provide continuous power during generator start and loading <br /> operations. <br /> LLNL also has adequate backup power sources to power the EOC, ACRECC, and other <br /> emergency facilities and essential emergency response equipment. <br /> Mechanical Utilities: <br /> Mechanical Utilities at LLNL is responsible for site-wide delivery of the following utilities: <br /> • City Water <br /> • Sanitary Sewer <br /> • Natural Gas <br /> • Compressed Air <br /> • Low Conductivity Water <br /> • Demineralized Water <br /> Site 200 Water Supply: Since 1960, the main water supply for LLNL has been purchased from <br /> the City of San Francisco Hetch Hetchy Aqueduct system. An LLNL contract with the Alameda <br /> County Flood and Water Conservation District, Zone 7, supplies water through the California <br /> Water Service Company. <br /> Site 300 Water Supply: A number of wells and storage tanks are located across Site 300. These <br /> storage tanks range in capacity from 63,000 to 165,000 gallons. <br /> Site 200 Natural Gas Supply: Purchased from PG&E, natural gas is supplied and is distributed <br /> via an underground grid system. <br /> 22 <br />
