CMr. Todd Del Frate -2- F, J
THIRD QUARTER 2008 GROUNDWATER MONITORING REPORT,
CORRAL HOLLOW SANITARY LANDFILL OCT 3 0 2008
ENVIRONMENT HEALTH
Progress of Corrective Action Measures is submitted during the first and third quKRIAITAHMES
therefore included in this quarterly report. Monitoring data indicates significant improvement in
groundwater quality at well MW -5 (the impacted well) since operation of the LFG system in late
2001, although this improvement has stabilized in the recent years.
We continue to see improvement in the inorganic parameters at MW -4 that we attribute to grading
improvements in late 2003. This continuing improvement seems to indicate that the lack of
closure cover over small portions of the refuse at the eastern edge of the landfill is not negatively
impacting groundwater at this time.
MW -8 groundwater elevation allowed us to redraw the shallow aquifer groundwater contours,
indicating a gradient north, west, and south from SB -1. This result is consistent with local
recharge between the landfill property and the freeway.
You have received our revised Closure and Postclosure Maintenance Plan for the Corral Hollow
Landfill, incorporating our proposed closure over the portions of our property where refuse is not
covered by the existing closure cap. This was to have been a joint document with CalTrans, but
CalTrans declined to participate. We intend to proceed with the closure cap within our property
upon approval of the Closure Plan.
I certify under penalty of law that I have personally examined and am familiar with the information
submitted in this document and all attachments and that, based on my inquiry of those individuals
immediately responsible for obtaining the information, I believe that the information is true,
accurate, and complete. I am aware that there are significant penalties for submitting false
information, including the possibility of fine and imprisonment.
If you have any questions, please contact me at (209) 468-8504.
Sincerely,
W.
