Site Safety and Health Plan
Stockton Field Maintenance Shop #24
8020 Air. ort VVa , Stockton, CA

4.0 HAZARD IDENTIFICATION AND ANALYSIS

4.1 EXPOSURE SUMMARY
A summary of the major chemical contaminants at the site and their corresponding exposure
limits and hazard summaries are provided as Table 4-1. The exposure limits given in the tables
were obtained from 8 CCR 5155. Immediately dangerous to life and health (IDLH) values were
obtained from the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) Pocket Guide
to Chemical Hazards (February 2004) and the Threshold Limit Values (TLVs) as published by
the American Conference of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), 2006 edition. Blanks
in the table for certain compounds indicate that there are no established exposure limits reported for those compounds.
The five exposure guideline terms used in the table are described below.
Time-Weighted Average (TWA) Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL): Eight-hour Time Weighted
Averages, Permissible Exposure Limit. An employee's exposure to any substance in the
above tables (under TWA PEL), shall not exceed the 8-hour TWA given for that substance in
any 8-hour work shift of a 40-hour work week.
Ceiling Values: An employee's exposure to any substance in the above tables (under ceiling)
shall, at no time, exceed the level given for that substance.
Short-Term Exposure Limits (STEL): The STEL is a concentration a person may be exposed to
over a short period of time, expressed as a 15-minute average.
IDLH: Immediately Dangerous to Life and Health. Any condition that may result in damage to
one's health, which cannot be repaired. IDLH situations include explosive and oxygen-deficient
environments and the presence of Class A poisons or substances which can be absorbed
through the skin.
TLV: Threshold Limit Value as published by ACGIH.
Star Resources Corp. 12
