stockpile were located adjacent to the conveyor terminus at the southern end of Area III. The remaining
copper concentrate formed a small, 5-foot diameter pile approximately 4 feet high. Water from recent
rains had filled tire track depressions and glistened with a blue-green tint on the bottom. There were also
six empty, rusted, 55-gallon drums in this area.
Several diesel tanks and approximately 50 55-gallon drums were observed in the center of
Area III along a dirt road east of the rotary railcar dumper. The drums were observed to be empty and
were stored upright on wooden platforms. Those that were labelled indicated that they previously
contained Universal Torque fluid hydraulic oil. One barrel evidently in use was perched on a table with
a spigot attached. The ground beneath the spigot was stained.
A fence parallels the railroad tracks and forms the northern boundary of the parcel. Along
the fence were old pipes, wood, rubber pylons, and various equipment. A small building constructed of
cinder blocks and a trailer were located near the conveyors. PG&E transformer #T6156 was adjacent to
these structures. No information was available to ascertain if the transformer contains polychlorinated
biphenyl (PCB) type coolant oil.
5.3 SITE VICINITY
The area surrounding the site includes general warehousing and industrial facilities on land
owned by the Port of Stockton and leased to various tenants.
