Definitions <br />"Acute Risk" means the potential for a contaminant to <br />cause acute health effects (e.g. death, damage or illness) as a <br />result of a period of exposure of a duration measured in seconds, <br />minutes, hours, or days. <br />"Initial finding" means the first laboratory result from <br />a water source showing the presence of an organic chemical listed in <br />Section 64444.5, Table 5. <br />"Public water system" means: <br />(1) A system, regardless of type of ownership, for the <br />provision of piped water to the public for domestic use, if such <br />system has at least 5 service connections or regularly serves an <br />average at at least 25 individuals daily at least 60 days of the <br />year. A public water system includes: <br />Any collection, treatment, storage and <br />distribution facilities which are used primarily in connection with <br />such system and which are under control of the water supplier. <br />Any collection or pretreatment storage <br />facilities which are used primarily in connection with such system <br />but are not under control of the water supplier. <br />(2) Either a community water system, a non-transient <br />non-community water system. <br />"Community water system" means a public water <br />system which serves at least 15 service connections used by yearlong <br />residents or regularly serves at least 25 yearlong residents. <br />"Non-transient, non-community water system" <br />means a public water system that is not a community water system and <br />that regularly serves at least the same 25 persons over 6 months per <br />year. <br />"Noncommunity water system" means a public water <br />system which meets one of the following criteria: <br />Serves at least 25 nonresident individuals <br />daily at least 60 days of the year, but not more than 24 yearlong <br />residents. <br />Serves 15 or more service connections and <br />124
