T1N000 1,1,2-TRICHLOROETHANE
Under the proper conditions it can undergo hazardous
reactions with aluminum oxide + heavy metals; dinitrogen
tetraoxide; inhibitors; metals (e.g., magnesium; aluminum;
potassium; potassium-sodium alloy); sodium hydroxide;
N104; oxygen. When heated to decomposition it emits toxic
fumes of C1. Used as a cleaning solvent, a chemical inter-
mediate to produce vinylidene chloride, and as a propellant
in aerosol cans. See also CHLORINATED HYDROCAR-
BONS, ALIPHATIC. For further information see methyl
chloroform, Vol. 2, No. 5 of DPIM Report.
