ame0
c7w
August 6, 2008
Project 14527.000
Ms. Margaret Lagorio
San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department
600 East Main Street
Stockton, California 95202-3029
Re: Phase ll Soil and Groundwater Sampling Work Plan
2130 West Washington Street, Stockton, CA
Dear Ms. Lagorio:
On behalf of Westway Feed Products, Inc. (Westway), AMEC Geomatrix, Inc. (AMEC) has
prepared this Phase II Soil and Groundwater Sampling Work Plan (Work Plan) for the Westway
Feed Products Facility at 2130 West Washington Street, Stockton, California (Site) (Figure 1).
In 2007 a Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) was performed by URS (URS, 2007).
The northern parcel, designated Parcel 2 in the ESA, has been occupied by Westway since
2003. During the 2007 ESA, several above ground storage tanks (ASTs) were observed to
show signs of leakage and soil staining near the railroad spur was also observed (URS, 2007).
This work plan has been prepared to assess the shallow groundwater impact by the leakage of
farm tanks and the soil impact near the railroad spur at the Site. This work plan includes the
background, purpose and scope of work for the proposed investigation.
BACKGROUND
The following section describes the background information at Westway Feed Products
Included are the geology and hydrology of the Site, land use, and previous investigations.
Geology and Hydrology
Stockton California lies within the San Joaquin valley geomorphic province. The area has low
topographic relief and has an average elevation of 5 feet above mean sea level (nisi).
Characteristic lithology of the area is dominated by marine deposits and fluvial deposits of sand,
silt, clay and gravel. Fluvial deposits are derived from the Sierra Nevada in the east and the
Coastal ranges in the west. Basin fill is approximately 3000 feet thick in the Site vicinity.
AMEC Geomatrix, Inc.
10670 White Rock Road
Rancho Cordova, CA
USA, 95670
Tel 916-636-3200
Fax 916-636-3208
www.amecgeomatrixinc.com
AMEC Geomatrix
