Harprit S. Mau [EH]
From: Robert McClellon [EH]
Sent: Thursday, June 25, 2015 8:15 AM
To: Harprit S. Mattu [EH]
Subject: FW: Pilkington Facility, Lathrop, CA
Attachments: PNA-SWIS Lathrop Site Plan -Monitoring Well Location.pdf
Print and place in the file. Robert
From: William Little [mailto:wlittle@advgeoenv.com]
Sent: Tuesday, June 23, 2015 10:59 AM
To: Djuth, Gerald @Waterboa rds; Dana Parry
Cc: Palmer, Ann@Waterboards; Robert McClellon [EH]
Subject: RE: Pilkington Facility, Lathrop, CA
Mr. Djuth and Ms. Palmer:
AGE has reviewed your email recommendations and attached a map for the designated area of
former waste storage, handling or disrupted area, based on older air photos. Additionally, based a
review of the historical JR Simplot— OCC monitoring well network results for groundwater elevation,
gradient maps and dissolved plume dispersion, shallow groundwater flow is east to northeast.
If boring B16 is east or north east of the historical waste area, then this sample is down-gradient to
potential discharge of waste to the groundwater. However, to the request for another down-gradient
shallow groundwater, there is a monitoring well installed at the northern end of the open dirt field
(previously used for irrigation) and northeast of the historical waste area. AGE has noted monitoring
well W-2 on the attached plan with an air photo. AGE recommends samples from this well be
analyzed for chemical of concern to finalize the potential discharge of waste to the groundwater.
AGE agrees the impact to the regional water quality issues from the waste handling are not
apparently significant nor does the current data demonstrate any impairment of the groundwater.
Rather less impact than neighboring investigation (sulfolane) and regional releases (DCA) within a
conceptual site model.
Please contact our office with any questions. AGE will plan to collected and analyze a groundwater
sample to add to the site evaluation.
William Little
California Professional Geologist#7473
Advanced GeoEnvironmental, Inc.
Environmental • Industrial Hygiene • Geotechnical • Contracting
Phone: 800-511-9300
Fax: 888-445-8786
wlittle D—advgeoenv.com
www.advgeoenv.com
This email/fax message is for the sole use of the intended recipient(s) and may contain confidential
and privileged information.
