Kleinfelder has responded to the comments in your letter. The County's and Kleinfelder's responses to your comments are summarized below: 1 . The test pad foundation did meet compaction requirements. Although test Nos. 1, 3, and 4 failed, these areas were reworked and retested as test Nos. 6, 7, and 8, which were passing tests. These test results are listed on pages 1 and 2 of Table I in the Kleinfelder report. 2 . Although test Nos. 21, 22, and 24 on the SM test pad did not initially meet the specified relative compaction, this test pad was reworked and retested. Retests of this test pad are test Nos. 28, 29, and 30 . There is an error in the reporting of the retests in the Kleinfelder report. Retest Nos. 26, 27, 28, 29, and 30 should correspond to the failing test Nos. 15, 16, 21, 22, and 24, respectively, and not to test Nos. 20, 21, 26, 27, and 29 as shown on Table 1, page 3, of the Kleinfelder report. In addition, two compaction tests were performed near the second SDRI test in the SM test pad to verify compaction. Compaction results from these two tests were 98 and 100% relative compaction as shown in the attached letter report from Kleinfelder.
