Evaluation of Hydrocarbons May 17, 1990
Waterfront Redevelopment, Stockton, California AGS 39048-2W
After an initial water-level measurement, the wells will be developed by manually raising
and lowering a PVC surge-block assembly cleaned with Alconox, followed by pumping to
remove the silty water and sediment entering the well. After development, the wells will
be allowed to stabilize for 48 hours as required by the San Joaquin County Public Health
Services Department. Following that time, the wells will be purged of 3 to 4 well volumes
L
of water using a submersible pump. During purging, the ground water will be monitored
for pH, temperature, and conductivity and purging will continue until these parameters
_ have stabilized. Water purged from the wells will be stored in appropriately labeled, 55-
gallon, steel 17E drums approved for this use by the Department of Transportation, until
suitable disposal options are selected based on laboratory analysis. Following ground-water
purging, the wells will be allowed to recovery to static conditions, a sample representative
of the formation water will be collected from each monitoring well using a Teflon bailer
cleaned with Alconox and deionized water.
The water sample will be transferred slowly and sealed in appropriate laboratory-cleaned
glassware with Teflon-lined lids. Glassware will be selected according to laboratory
guidelines for sample containers compatible with each analysis requested. The samples will
be labeled and placed promptly in iced storage. Chain of Custody Records will be initiated
in the field by the geologist and will accompany the samples to the analytical laboratory.
Copies of the Chain of Custody Records will be included in our report.
13
APIOA490' GeoSYSAMS
