Evaluation of Hydrocarbons May 17, 1990
Waterfront Redevelopment, Stockton, California AGS 39048-2W
Laboratory Analysis
Selected soil samples from each soil boring will be submitted for chemical analysis.
Selected soil samples will include the sample from directly above the first water-bearing
zone and the sample with the highest OVM readings or with subjective evidence of
hydrocarbons. The soil samples selected for testing will be analyzed for total petroleum
hydrocarbons (TPH) as gasoline using modified Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
Method 8015 with extraction by EPA Method 5030 and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and
total xylene isomers using EPA Method 8020. The soil samples will also be analyzed for
TPH as diesel fuel using modified EPA Method 8015 with extraction by EPA Method
3550.
One water sample will be collected from each monitoring well for analysis. Water samples
will be extracted using EPA Method 5030 followed by analysis for TPH as gasoline using
modified EPA Method 8015 and benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and total xylene isomers
using EPA Method 602. In addition, the ground-water samples will be analyzed for TPH
as diesel fuel using extraction method 3510 followed by modified EPA Method 8015 with
direct injection into a GC equipped with and flame-ionization detector (FID). Detection
limits suitable for the tests requested and for concentrations present will be stated on the
laboratory reports. Tests will be performed at a laboratory certified by the State of
California for the analyses requested.
14
APPA49d 000SYWOMS
