Conditions of sleet, snow, or freezing are extremely unlikely. 3.3.11 Slip, Trip and Fall Areas at the Site may be slippery from mud or water. Great care should be taken by all Site workers to avoid slip, trip and fall hazards. Workers shall not enter areas that not have adequate lighting. Additional portable lighting will be provided at the discretion of the CHSO or the Field Team Leader, if necessary. 3.3.12 Biological Hazards Drugs and alcohol are prohibited from the Site at all times. Any worker or oversight personnel suspected of being in an impaired condition, as a result of drugs or alcohol, will be immediately expelled from the Site. Any worker or oversight personnel with a relevant medical condition that may require attention should inform the Field Team Leader or CHSO of such condition. The CHSO will describe appropriate measures to be taken if the individual should become symptomatic. All personnel working on-site should be aware that poisonous snakes, spiders, plants, and insects might possibly be encountered. Care should be taken when lifting objects under which a poisonous arachnid, insect, or reptile may be located. 4.0 AIR MONITORING Air monitoring will be conducted at the discretion of the Field Team Leader or the CHSO. NIOSH methods will be used to collect and analyze air samples. A flame ionization detector or photo-ionization detector will be used to assess the level of protection required for worker PPE. The actual instrumentation chosen will be dependent on site conditions. If organic vapor concentrations exceed 5 parts per million ("ppm") over the background level as measured in the workers breathing zone, then field personnel will be required to wear half- or full-face air-purifying respirators ("APR") with combination high efficiency particulate air("HEPA")/organic vapor cartridges until such time as the measured concentrations are reduced to background levels. Measurements shall be taken at 5-minute intervals until such time that it is determined that the observed contaminant levels have become constant. Following equilibration of the measurements, the Field Team Leader or the CHSO will determine the level of respiratory protection that will be required. Concentrations in excess of 50 ppm above background will result in cessation of site activities until the CHSO has evaluated the situation.
