SOIL SUITABILITY STUDY
Introduction
Live Oak GeoEnviron mental, Inc. (Live Oak) was contracted by Angela Barajas to
conduct a Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study for her property located at
9684 and 9622 East Mariposa Road, Stockton, California.
The Soil Suitability Study and Nitrate Loading Study are combined under this report
cover and presented as two sections of this report. The formatting of the report has
been designed to follow the recommendations of the San Joaquin County
Environmental Health Department as described in its Soil Suitability Study
Requirements Checklist and Nitrate Loading Study Requirements Checklist.
The Soil Suitability Study was conducted to determine whether the soils are suitable for
use with a septic system. The study was performed according to the requirements of
Section 9-1105.2(d) of the San Joaquin County Development code.
Proposed Development
Ms. Barajas intends to place a modular home on the Site as a second unit dwelling.
Site Description
The Site is composed of Assessor's Parcel Number (APN) 181-050-11, 3.57 acres in
size. The Site is located at 9684 and 9622 East Mariposa Road, Stockton (Plate 1).
A three-bedroom home and several small outbuildings are currently located on the Site.
A well and septic system serve the existing home (Plate 2).
The elevation of the Site, according to a United States Geological Survey topographic
map, is approximately 49 feet above mean sea level. The Site is relatively flat (Plate 3).
According to the San Joaquin County District Viewer (sjmap.org), the Site is zoned AL-
5, Limited Agriculture with a minimum parcel size of five acres. The San Joaquin
County Community Development Department states that this zoning designation "is
intended to recognize and preserve areas that contain existing concentrations of small-
scale agricultural operations and dwellings."
Existing and Proposed Septic Tank Usage
Existing Septic System
One septic system is currently located on the Site (Plate 2).
LOGE 2122 Page 1
