Proposed Septic System Ms. Barajas plans to build a new septic system for the new residence. On-Site Septic Permit History The San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department septic permit files were searched for the Site addresses. Two septic permits were identified: • June 1974 permit for addition to existing residential system. Two 40-foot leach lines and two 33-inch diameter by 25-foot deep seepage pits were added to the existing system. • October 2002 permit for destruction and replacement of redwood septic tank; a new 1,600-gallon tank was installed. These permits have been attached in Appendix 4 of this report. Existing Septic Tank Usage in the Vicinity To estimate the septic system usage in the area, our office counted septic systems that exist within approximately one square mile surrounding the property. Air photo imagery from Google Earth was used. Each building cluster on the photo was assumed to have one septic system. Using this method, it is estimated that at least 54 septic systems per square mile are located in the immediate vicinity of the Site. The Site is located within a mixed agricultural and rural residential area. Septic Permit History in the Vicinity Based on a review of septic permits on file at the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department for nearby properties, most septic systems in the area utilize leach lines with 25-foot deep seepage pits, though one permit indicates leach lines with sumps. The septic permits can be found in Appendix 4 of this report. Expected On-Site Maximum Septic Tank Usage Maximum expected usage on the Site would be from the current and future residents of the Site. Septic system design should be based on the San Joaquin County On-Site Wastewater Treatment Systems Standards (2017) or other engineering recommendations. LOGE 2122 Page 2
