Potential hazards associated with LFG are due to: <br /> 1. Oxygen defiance in the landfill gas <br /> 5. Combustible characteristics of landfill gas <br /> 6. Potential for hydrogen sulfide in LFG <br /> Potential hazards include: <br /> a. Fire <br /> b. Explosion <br /> c. Asphyxiation <br /> 1.03 RESPONSIBILITY FOR SAFETY <br /> The Contractor is solely and wholly responsible for the safety of his workers <br /> and damage to his equipment. Contractor shall follow OSHA safety <br /> standards. <br /> The Contractor shall submit proof of current general liability and worker's <br /> compensation insurance to the County before commencing work. <br /> 1.04 USE OF SITE <br /> A. The working hours shall be Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm <br /> excluding public holidays. <br /> B. The landfill's perimeter is gated to prevent illegal dumping and trespassing. <br /> Engineer will provide the Contractor the main entrance gate key of the <br /> landfill. The Contractor shall keep the main entrance gate closed during <br /> working hours and locked at the end of each working day. <br /> C. Contractor shall place debris and refuse from contractor's operations in a <br /> disposal dumpster. The dumpster shall be covered at all times and its <br /> contents disposed at North County Landfill when full. The Contractor shall <br /> pay all disposal fees. <br /> D. Water for well construction is available on site. The Engineer will <br /> demonstrate the operation of the well pump.
