kn K L E I N F E L D E R
Removal of hydraulic fluid and/or miscellaneous fluid (i.e., brake fluid, motor oil, water, etc.) that
may have collected in the sumps of the twin -post hydraulic lifts (adjacent to probe locations P-1,
P-5, P-6, P-7, and P-9) to prevent any additional and/or potential release of petroleum
hydrocarbons.
Additional site assessment activities to evaluate the lateral extent of petroleum hydrocarbon impact
to soil and to ground water related to the hydraulic lift located adjacent to probe boring P-6. It is
recommended that additional site assessment consist of the advancement of up to three soil probe
borings in the area surrounding the hydraulic lift for the collection and analysis of soil and ground
water samples.
Based on the analytical results, there appears to be no petroleum hydrocarbon impacts related to
the operation of the hydraulic lifts located at the probe boring locations P-1 through P-5, P-7
through P-12, and P-15. It is AGE'S understanding that vegetable-based oil is currently used in the
hydraulic lifts. Therefore, current operation of the hydraulic lifts does not appear to present a
significant environmental concern. However, based on the shallow depth to ground water at the
site of approximately 13 feet bgs, a release from the hydraulic lifts would have the potential to
impact ground water. To reduce the potential threat of impacts to ground water, it is recommended
that the in -ground hydraulic lifts be appropriately abandoned and replaced with above -ground lifts.
Implementation of more stringent house -keeping practices in the area of the hydraulic lift pressure -
release outlets which should include the containment of discharged fluids.
No further investigation of the site has been undertaken since 1999 prior to the installation, and
sampling of the three monitoring wells detailed in this report.
20-3978-03.CHEV / ST02R111 Page 6 of 18
Copyright 2002, Kleinfelder, Inc.
