19 September 2002
AGE -NC Project No. 99-0557
• Benzene, toluene, ethyl benzene and xylenes (BTEX) and methyl tertiary -butyl ether
(MTBE) in accordance with EPA Method 8020, and
• Methanol in accordance with EPA Method 8260B.
BTEX, MTBE and methanol were not detected in ground water samples collected from the three
monitoring wells at the site. Based upon results of the 13 August 2002 sampling, AGE was unable
to confirm the presence of BTEX or methanol detected in May 2002 during sampling performed by
Kleinfelder, Inc.
FINAL RECOMMENDATIONS
Based upon the results of the work performed, and based upon our previous discussions, AGE
recommends:
• Soil in the area of boring P-6 (hydraulic lift area) remains impacted by petroleum
hydrocarbons and should be excavated and disposed in conjunction with future development
of the property. Sampling should be performed to confirm successful removal of the
impacted soil.
• Request that the San Joaquin County Environmental Health Department (SJC-EHD) issue
a "no further action" or closure letter for the property.
• Verify that all current in -ground hydraulic lifts had their possibly PCB -containing oils
replaced with vegetable oil.
The opportunity to provide this service is greatly appreciated.
