h'q KLEINFELDER
6 DISCUSSION OF RESULTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS
6.1 RESULTS
A discussion of results for the soil and groundwater samples collected and recommendations is
presented in the following sections.
6.1.1 Soil Results
The soil samples were collected for laboratory analysis from the soil borings in MW -1, MW -2, and
MW -3 at depths of 10 feet and 15 feet below the ground surface. The soil boring for MW -1 was
located on the north side of the existing showroom. 1\4W-2 was located south of the
showroom/shop building, and MW -3 was located west of the showroom.
There were no detected concentrations of any of the analytes that the soil samples were tested for.
the soil samples collected from the 10 and 15 foot intervals from each of the three soil borings
showed non-detectable concentrations above the laboratory reporting limits (see laboratory report
attached) for TPH-g, BTEX, Oxygenates, Methanol, and Fuel Fingerprint.
6.1.2 Groundwater Results
Groundwater samples were collected from the three monitoring wells for laboratory analysis. The
location of MW -1 was chosen to represent an upgradient monitoring point, while the MW -2 and
MW -3 locations were chosen to represent downgradient monitoring points of the wastewater
checks.
The groundwater flow direction in the area of this investigation was calculated to be to the
northwest with a groundwater gradient of 0.0033 feet per foot.
Benzene, toluene, ethylbenxene, and xylene was detected in one groundwater monitoring well
(MW -2). Only the concentration of benzene was shown to exceed the MCL for benzene in water of
1.0 ug/L. The detected concentration of benzene was 1.5 ug/L in MW -2. The detected
concentrations of toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylene did not exceed the MCIs established for the
analytes. It should be noted that monitoring well MW -2 is located southeast and upgradient to the
hydraulic lifts and service garage area focused upon in this investigation. No other analytes
included in this investigation were detected in MW -2.
Of all the constituents listed in this investigation, only methanol was detected in monitoring well
MW -1. The detected concentration of methanol in MW -1 was 110 ug/L. There is no established
MCL for methanol, however there is a WQG taste and odor threshold of 740,000 ug/l.
