k'■ KLEIN FELDER
detected concentration of methanol does not exceed the WQG for methanol. Monitoring well MW -
1 is located north and downgradient to the hydraulic lifts located in the service garage area of the
site.
There were no analytes included in this investigation detected in monitoring well MW -3. MW -3 is
located to the west and downgradient to the hydraulic lifts and service garage area of the site which
was known to have soil and groundwater contamination by hydraulic oil from the lifts. Therefore,
the extent of hydraulic oil in groundwater appears localized around the lifts.
6.2 RECOMMENDATIONS
Based on the data obtained during this assessment, Kleinfelder recommends:
1) There has not been any subsurface evaluations to the east of MW -1 and MW -2 in previous
investigations. Kleinfelder recommends that a geoprobe operation be undertaken to evaluate
the extent of contamination to the east of MW -1 and MW -2.
2) Kleinfelder recommends that a complete Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) be
completed to evaluate the possibility of an off site source of the groundwater contamination.
3) Kleinfelder recommends the drilling returns (soil only) be spread out on unimproved portions of
the site by the client following approval by Ms. Lori Duncan of the San Joaquin County
PHS/EHD to do so.
4) The rinseate water from the drilling operations and purge water collected from the monitoring
activities should be disposed of at an approved facility. Kleinfelder can aid the either Tradeway
Chevrolet or AKF Development Co. to accomplish this task at an additional charge.
5) Continue monitoring of the three existing monitoring wells.
6) Kleinfelder recommends that a copy of this report be submitted to Ms. Lori Duncan of
PHS/EHD and be courtesy copied to the State of California Regional Water Quality Control
Board for their review and comment.
7) Kleinfelder concurs with and again reiterates AGE'S first recommendation which states,
"Removal of hydraulic fluid and/or miscellaneous fluid (i.e., brake fluid, motor oil, water,
etc. that may have collected in the sumps of the twin -post hydraulic lifts (adjacent to probe
locations P-1, P-5, P-6, P-7, and P-9) to prevent any additional and/or potential release of
petroleum hydrocarbon.
8) Kleinfelder concurs with and again reiterates the last sentence of AGE's third recommendation
which states, "To reduce the potential threat of impacts to ground water, it is recommended that
the in -ground hydraulic lifts be appropriately abandoned and replaced with above -ground lifts".
20-3978-03.CHEV / ST02R111 Page 15 of 18
Copyright 2002, Kleinfelder, Inc.
